Introduction The Technical Finance Accountant falls within the Group Finance Division as a specialist function within the Statutory Financial Reporting cluster. The volume of change in accounting, regulatory and legal reporting requirements is now more than ever before. This specialist role is required to deal with smooth implementation of all these changes within the Statutory Finance processes, systems and workflows. Specification As a specialist role, the deliverables include the following: Acquiring specialist knowledge of relevant changes / new standards and requirements across the entire spectrum of relevant IFRS standards applicable to reporting within the Group Interpreting the impact of these changes within the Finance Division Identifying all aspects within finance that will require change, to enable compliance with new requirements as and when they arise Assist the IFRS17 team and the financial manager with project managing the end-to-end processes required to achieve delivery and implementation of affected areas, systems and/or processes Providing specialist support to other Group Finance areas regarding these changes Advising the IFRS17 team, financial manager and other finance divisions on technical aspects regarding implementation options Producing clear project plans, implementation roadmaps and progress reports to Financial Manager and any impacted business areas Managing business stakeholder input, external advisors to ensure overall successful delivery Ensuring that all changes are fully documented for review by the financial manager, and able to appropriately support the options taken in implementation as well as be able to withstand scrutiny from external auditors. Immediate technical focus areas to commence are: Assisting and supporting IFRS17 implementation and readiness for mandatory go-live in 2021 Ensuring that Consolidated and entity specific Annual Financial Statements adhere to the appropriate IFRS and other technical standards for the 30 June 2019 year-end. Leadership: Articulate and communicate key deliverables and business context to the team Effectively manage the technical knowledge within the Group Finance Division, through formal and informal training and feedback sessions. Team Enablement: Share and train peers within the Group Finance Department, on technical changes and ensure they fully understand these changes to allow them to action where necessary Monitor operational efficiencies that are affected by technical changes and re-engineer where required. Specification As a specialist role, the deliverables include the following: Acquiring specialist knowledge of relevant changes / new standards and requirements across the entire spectrum of relevant IFRS standards applicable to reporting within the Group Interpreting the impact of these changes within the Finance Division Identifying all aspects within finance that will require change, to enable compliance with new requirements as and when they arise Assist the IFRS17 team and the financial manager with project managing the end-to-end processes required to achieve delivery and implementation of affected areas, systems and/or processes Providing specialist support to other Group Finance areas regarding these changes Advising the IFRS17 team, financial manager and other finance divisions on technical aspects regarding implementation options Producing clear project plans, implementation roadmaps and progress reports to Financial Manager and any impacted business areas Managing business stakeholder input, external advisors to ensure overall successful delivery Ensuring that all changes are fully documented for review by the financial manager, and able to appropriately support the options taken in implementation as well as be able to withstand scrutiny from external auditors. Immediate technical focus areas to commence are: Assisting and supporting IFRS17 implementation and readiness for mandatory go-live in 2021 Ensuring that Consolidated and entity specific Annual Financial Statements adhere to the appropriate IFRS and other technical standards for the 30 June 2019 year-end. Immediate IFRS standards to focus on are IFRS9 and IFRS15. Operational Management: Ensures that all technical aspects are effectively managed by continuously reviewing standards and requirements, both new and old, and ensuring there are being adhered too and implemented within the required time frames. Leadership: Articulate and communicate key deliverables and business context to the team Effectively manage the technical knowledge within the Group Finance Division, through formal and informal training and feedback sessions. Team Enablement: Share and train peers within the Group Finance Department, on technical changes and ensure they fully understand these changes to allow them to action where necessary Monitor operational efficiencies that are affected by technical changes and re-engineer where required. Innovation: Leverage all available information from our partners, the industry and internally to ensure we are constantly reviewing our departmental processes, systems and protocols with a view to improve efficiencies and to ensure best practice Review current processes and systems and advise and recommend efficiencies, to allow for better management of technical standards, regulations and their changes.
