Introduction Established in 2010 Talksure, based in Umhlanga, has fast become one of South Africa's most respected independent contact centres, with specialisms in sales and financial services. Talksure has a raft of recent accolades including Best Large Outsource Call Centre in South Africa (2016) as recognised by the industry body BPESA (Business Process Engineering South Africa), two times silver medal winners at Contact Centre World Awards (EAMA Region) for Best Large Outsource Provider (2017 and 2018). The business has experienced 25% year on year growth for the last 3 years, turning over almost R300million in the last financial year from a base of half a million clients. Revenue is generated from a combination of in house product development and distribution, as well as third party outsource or BPO activity. The employee compliment is currently around 800, including 550 sales consultants selling over 55,000 products and services each month within the insurance, medical, security, motor and retail markets. In 2018 Talksure moved into a formalised Group structure better aligned to delivery of its strategic objectives. This includes enabling expansion of the B2B sales channel as well as the more traditional B2C, to rapidly grow the new international offering providing services to countries such as Australia, the UK and USA, to expand post sales services offered within the domestic insurance value chain, and to grow our online and digital marketing channel. With the move to the new structure group level positions were created and appointed to including a New Business Director, who is now looking to build a skilled and experienced team. We are known within the industry as partner of choice with the majority of our new business acquisition to date coming from referrals and strong networks within the industry. Talksure is the largest individual gap cover broker in country, is the market leader in the provision of unique roadside security products, and holds outsource contracts with some of the country's most well-known and established brands including MultiChoice, Tracker and Miway. Our focus for the next phase of business development will be to increase revenue streams within existing markets, as well as entering new markets such as retail and telecoms Specification This role will be responsible for supporting the development and implementation of a data strategy for the group. The data strategy must ensure that all data resources are posi tioned in such a way that they can be used, shared and transferred easily and efficiently in and across the organisation and organisational systems. In line with this, the data scientist must advise the business on data potential, develop and deliver insights to inform the overarching strategy and mission of the group, as well as create solutions which enable enhanced business performance. This will be done using advanced statistical analysis, data mining and data visualising techniques. Specifically, the role will support more effective data profiling and predictive model generation for high conversion sales lead generation as well as sophisticated analysis and modelling capabilities for critical and complex business issues which span the entire business operation. Key Outputs Contribute to the formulation of the group data strategy in partnership with business stakeholders and the Leads and Insights team. Partner all business stakeholders to identify and define business data and insights requirements. Identify appropriate data sources, build and manage data partnerships with client and partner organizations as well as data vendors. Manage data collection and analysis processes. Extract, create, and organize data files used for analytical and modelling purposes. Develop structures and processes for the combination and synthesis of quantitative and qualitative data from multiple and disparate internal and external sources. Identify, conceptualize and implement a range of insights and predictive modelling initiatives, including econometric and statistical models, based in the data strategy. Create and manage operational dashboards to monitor key performance indicators and metrics. Generate meaningful insights and bring well thought through and practical recommendations to the executive and management teams. Present information in a clear, compelling and concise way. Design, implement and maintain sales lead data generation and quality management and optimisation processes, ensuring the provision of high -conversion leads to the group's direct marketing and sales teams. Maintain an up to date awareness of data management and analysis tools, techniques and technologies including the application of machine learning and artificial intelligence technologies. Contribute to the capability development of the group's Leads and Insights team, providing coaching or mentorship on area of expertise to other members of the team and keeping them informed on data analytics trends. Requirements Key Requirements Qualifications: A bachelor's degree in applied statistics, mathematics, computer science, economics or related science, technology, engineering or mathematical field is essential. Experience: 3+ years of successful experience in analytics, data science and/or business intelligence with a proven track record working in a fast-paced and complex business environment and involved with direct marketing, lead generation, customer profiling and predictive modelling, ability to translate business problems into data solution designs of varying complexities. Experience and proficiency in the application of one or more of the following languages and tools: SQL, SAS, R Python, Power BI, MS Office and data visualisation tools. Substantial knowledge of and experience in applying advanced quantitative techniques or econometrics, using current and relevant technologies including machine learning. Person Description This role requires an exceptionally astute, analytical yet practical problem solver and influence leader to build the analytical framework and drive data-driven initiatives to advance the group's strategic and performance agendas. The ideal candidate will have a passion for big data, data technologies, mission-driven activity as well as solving challenging problems in a fast and high pressured environment. He or she should have strong analytical, leadership, communication and organizational skills with a high attention to detail and a sophisticated concept of the importance and impact of data within the organisational context. Technologically adept, the ideal candidate will also be passionate about research, statistical or quantitative techniques and the design and delivery of effective data analysis solutions. He or she will have a strong understanding of data-mining and an ability to apply these to practical real-world business issues.
