You will play a critical role in the design and implementation of strategic initiatives to retain and grow our most prized asset - our people! This role reports into a Director Level HRBP Responsibilities: Strategy Development and Implementation Work closely with the head of Engineering Experience to understand organizational challenges and design/implement creative solutions Coordinate and support the implementation of strategic initiatives within your pod and more broadly Performance Management Support your pod and managers within it to cultivate a high performance culture, and ensure that performance management experiences are effective and empowering, prioritising fairness and objectivity Advise managers on team performance management via a data driven approach Work proactively to identify underperformance and address thoughtfully, manage underperformance professionally and swiftly when Talent Development Connect engineers to compelling learning and development opportunities, mentorship, coaching for performance and growth, advising on career opportunities Support leaders and managers on talent mapping and reviews to ensure implementation of recommendations from the Talent Development team. Develop and implement workforce retention, career and succession strategies. Organization Design and Change Management Implement effective change management strategies, providing subject matter expertise on risk mitigation and change delivery. Support the implementation of OD strategy plans and also identifying risks and impact to delivery. Coach, Inspire, Influence Nurturing, coaching and mentoring engineers and managers within your pod as well as more junior Engineering Experience team members. Works in partnership with leaders to provide challenge, legal guidance and advice in dealing with difficult people issues in a fair, straightforward manner and without delay. Serve as an escalation point for your pod and your direct reports Relationships , Collaboration Build and maintain healthy relationships with key stakeholders Coach leaders/managers on proper management and communication practices. Work closely and effectively with other cross-functional HRBP’s, People operations and Centres of excellence teams to identify best practice and use it to define effective business interventions. Share knowledge and insights with the wider People team to help shape best practise and ensure business goals are in line with org-wide strategy Qualifications Significant and relevant professional experience most of which should be in an advisory HR role Involved in design and implementation of any key HR processes end to end. From design phase to implementation. Have a strong sense of business ethics and ability to appropriately handle confidential information. Demonstrate a deep understanding of Human Resources Management Processes, Culture and Performance Management. Excellent interpersonal skills, stellar emotional intelligence with a specific focus on self moderation, cultivating relationships and empathy. Exceptional communication skills both verbal and written, the ability to present and facilitate effectively. Storytelling via presentations is a strongly preferred skill. The group’s mandate is to ensure Andela has the right talent at the right time to deliver value to our current and future customers. About the Role You are a structured, motivated leader eager to drive the newly-built Engineer Workforce Optimization function at Andela and bring it to the next level. Your group will drive meaningful impact for our customers, our engineers and our organization. As the leader of an important new business function in its early stages, you will demonstrate a high degree of ownership and drive a clear vision with diverse stakeholders. The mandate of your team is to manage the bench of engineers to achieve optimal levels of available supply based on market demand, and will require a strong understanding of commercial requirements and People-related practices. The current team is a small and versatile group of folks who spike in analytical thinking, project and stakeholder management, and getting stuff done. As the leader of this team, you will need to be an adaptable team player who is capable of wearing multiple hats and driving commercial outcomes through operational efficiency and innovation. Responsibilities Create and drive strategy of Engineer Workforce Optimization team; clearly define team’s mandate and the role of the bench within Andela’s business strategy Ensure attainment of revenue, cost management, and utilization goals through investments in Andela’s engineering talent workforce efficacy Continuously improve Andela’s talent forecasting/capacity planning through segmentation and analysis Maintain excellent relationships via strong stakeholder management, and communication practices at all levels of the organization Interact with engineering talent in thoughtful, operationally excellent, clear, honest, and empathetic ways Leverage your context of both demand and supply to consult around processes, models, calculations, assumptions and business impacts Requirements A completed Bachelor’s Degree at a minimum; MBA is a plus 9+ years Management experience in a workforce planning / supply chain / operations management environment / professional services marketplace Ability to lead, teach and develop managers to deliver key organizational goals Demonstrated success with program & process management in highly cross-functional, rapidly growing and changing business Exceptional analytical thinking ability and comfortable analyzing data to extract and communicate findings or next steps Ability to develop and implement talent optimization processes and procedures across geographically distributed teams, in collaboration with other department leaders Demonstrated ability to think strategically and translate strategy into operational plans and business results Strong track record of recommending policy requirements and rolling out clear, new procedures that affect large groups of employees Excellent verbal and written communication skills Experience with managing large-scale organizational change Experience working remotely and/or with larger groups of talent is an asset Ability to travel ~once a quarter, determined by business need Benefits & Compensation Full-time compensation Full medical coverage Beautiful working environment Opportunity to work with the brightest minds on the planet Oh, and a chance to change the world!
